My Favorite Things This Week (2019 #3)
Facebook’s 10-year glow-up challenge reminds us that Facebook used to be fun
I loved this look at how Facebook and our relationship has changed in the past 10 years. It inspired me to write my own perspective on it.
The End of iTunes
I completely agree that it's time for the iTunes branding to go away. It no longer fits the job it's used for and the announcement for Samsung TVs might be a sign it's happening.
California’s largest utility just declared bankruptcy. Hello, climate change.
I was in California during the Camp Fire and I was amazed at how far away the smoke could spread. This article shows how climate change is leading to worse wildfires and the trouble utilities are facing when liable for these wildfires.
Playing Red Dead Online as a black character means enduring racist garbage
Racism in online gaming, not exactly shocking when some view racist words as "gamer words". Still it's interesting how some are using the setting to justify their behaviour while the game itself portrays racist characters in a negative light.
I finally saw Bumblebee this week and it's such a good coming of age movie. I've hated every one of the Michael Bay Transformers movies so I was cautious about this one. It lacks all of the unnecessary bullshit Bay's movies had and focuses on a good story, characters, and sensibly directed action scenes. And the G1 Transformers designs!!!
I binged this Netflix series this week and it's such a good high school story with a unique premise. Asa Butterfield is great in it and it's nice to see him get a more mature role.
Not a new song but this lyric video does a great job of capturing the chaotic autotuned madness of this 1975 song.
